Can children find excitement outside of the digital screen?  Can art calm and excite young minds,  and even absorb aggression?  More than 30 artists embarked on a mission to raise funds for free art workshops for poor children, in the hope that this may provide a creative outlet to help quell growing violence among several public school children.

The works of national artist nominee Junyee, foremost modern sculptor Julie Lluch, celebrated Filipino printmaker Pandy Aviado, and other well-established as well as young, up and coming visual artists were put up for show and for sale at “Journeys,” a fund-raising show organized by Erehwon Art Foundation Inc. in cooperation with Art Lounge Manila (ALM), at the ALM Gallery located at the ground floor of The Podium mall in Mandaluyong City.

The show opened on August 19, 2026, graced by SM Investments Corporation Executive Vice President Lizanne C. Uychaco, herself an artist, Alaska Corporation’s first female president Marjorie Garovillo, human resource power house Romana Go, distinguished art critic and prolific author Cid Reyes, and other distinguished art and business personalities. The event ran up to August 30, 2026.

In his welcome remarks, Erehwon Art Foundation president praised the 38 artists who produced over 60 artworks for this show, to support the foundation in this mission to raise funds so Erehwon can conduct continuing art workshops for many poor children, paying for their art materials and snacks.  He credited foundation trustee June Dalisay’s persuasive power to bring all the artists into joining this project.  Event initiator June believes that promoting pleasant artistic experiences can influence positive psycho-social outlooks among the youth.

The art works were a vibrant mix of the serene, colorful, thought-provoking, unusual, tongue-in-cheek, and exciting.  The artistic media were just as diverse, from acrylic, to oil, assemblage, pen and ink, collage, watercolor, to eco-conscious sculptures.  Each piece is the artists’ solitary journey to traverse this challenging and complicated world.  In turn, art will lead each child toward their own creative adventure.
