Erehwon Center for the Arts further showcased the grand transformation of its outdoor performance stage by continuing its mission to offer free shows to the public. This is to encourage accessibility to art and cultural events for people from all walks in life. These theater plays attracted residents of the nearby Villa Beatriz community (children, adults, and senior citizens alike), students and teachers, City Tourism representatives, and several other interested theater-goers.
Together with the performance company, Artist Playground in association with Gantimpala Foundation, Erehwon staged “El Filibusterismo,” based on Jose Rizal’s classic novel. Direction was by Andre Tiangco. Among the actors were Roeder Camañag as Simoun, Paul Jake Paule as Kabesang Tales, and Gilbert Bacolod as Kapitan Heneral.
In keeping with the observance of Lent, Erehwon also staged for a free public show, “Daan ng Krus,” an original musical about the life and passion of Jesus Christ. This was shown in the Erehwon outdoor theater, in cooperation with Teatro Mensaheros de San Antonio, Teatro Caviteño, and Valenzuela City for Performing Arts. The play was written and directed by Jeffrey Camañag.
